Your quote

Your quote describes the work and the price. Anything that changes either should be agreed with you before it is done.

Keep your quote: it is the record of what was agreed for your job.

The standard of the work

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, work has to be carried out with reasonable care and skill. If it is not, you are entitled to have it put right, and in some cases to a price reduction.

On top of that, the workmanship is guaranteed in writing for 5 years.

Cancelling

If you agree to the work in your home, rather than at a business premises, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to change your mind.

If you ask for work to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point.
